Did you know about Galangal ?



      Galangal (Alpinia galanga) is a type of plant tubers that can live in a wide range eg in lowland plains. Generally, people use it as a mixture of spices and traditional medicine.

The characteristics of the plant galangal:

- Plants that grow upright

- Less lebig 2 meters high.

- Leaf sheaths closed by the stem.

- The leaves between the leaves are stem

- In the upper leaves have differences with leaves underneath

- The leaves at the base of the stem, only the midrib without leaves.

- Leaves that are above the base of the stem already have midrib and leaf.

- Galangal will grow at the end of the base of the plant

- White and fragrant rhizome

- There are some who have a ginger rhizome small.

      Galangal plant in the yard of the house was very easy, because galangal can grow well in areas that are at an altitude of 1.200 meters above sea level or low-lying areas, and galangal is very fond of a protected area and also get enough sunlight.

How to plant:

- Simply by planting rhizomes alone or that the end of the rhizome.

- Can also be planted only use the seeds alone.

- To utilize the results of galangal, better at harvest 2-3 months.

     Although galangal is kind of small plants, but it has great benefits for health, and galangal can also be planted in the yard of our house as well as ornamental plants and medicinal plants.
